FALL - Playread
by Michele Lee
Directed by Beng Oh
Saturday 15th August | 3:30pm–5pm | Seddon Studio
Join us for a special afternoon as Wit Incorporated opens the doors to the development of our upcoming world premiere theatre production, Fall.
Written by award-winning playwright Michele Lee and directed by critically acclaimed theatre-maker Beng Oh, Fall is an intimate and gripping new Australian play set over one night in northern Laos in 1975.
As the Communist takeover unfolds, Paul, an Australian teacher preparing to leave the country following the death of his wife, is unexpectedly reunited with Mai, a young Hmong woman and his former student. As old wounds resurface and violence draws closer, one impossible decision will change all three lives forever.
Over July and August, Michele, Beng, the cast and creative team will be workshopping the script together as part of its development before the full production premieres this December. This public reading offers a unique opportunity to experience the play in its development stage and be part of the creative journey. Following the reading, audiences will be invited to share their thoughts and feedback, helping shape the work as it continues to evolve.
Entry is by donation, with all proceeds going directly towards supporting the December production season, helping us create more independent theatre and provide fairer pay for our artists.
Whether you're a theatre lover, an artist, or simply curious about how new Australian work is made, we'd love to welcome you into the room and share this exciting stage of the journey with you. Grab a ticket now!
