FALL

by Michele Lee

Directed by Beng Oh

5 Dec Bowery Theatre | 9-12 Dec Bluestone Church Arts Space

Northern Laos, 1975. As the Communist takeover reshapes a nation, an Australian teacher preparing to leave Laos is unexpectedly reunited with his former student, a young Hmong woman fleeing persecution. Over the course of one extraordinary night, they must confront the choices that have defined their lives—and the uncertain future that awaits them.

When a young Communist soldier enters their fragile sanctuary, long-buried truths emerge and survival becomes a matter of impossible decisions.

Written by award-winning playwright Michele Lee and directed by critically acclaimed Beng Oh, Fall is a gripping historical drama exploring love, loss, identity, and the lasting human cost of war. Intimate, suspenseful, and deeply moving, this powerful three-hander asks what we owe one another when the world is falling apart.

Content warning: This production contains themes of war, racism, ethnic persecution, sexual violence, physical violence, murder, grief, refugee displacement, alcohol use, and discussions of trauma. Recommended for mature audiences.
